How to Meet Jesus
You say, “How can I meet somebody who’s been dead for 2,000 years?” We say, “He is not dead, but risen from the grave,” and is right now living and seated at God’s right hand!”
The Scriptures (i.e., the Bible) teach that Jesus Christ came into our world as a baby, grew up to be a man, and at the age of about 30, began to teach people about the Kingdom of God. Jesus claimed to be the King of this Kingdom, and He called all people to become part of His Kingdom, i.e., to come under His rule and authority. Jesus urged people to repent, and to become ‘born again.” They needed to be forgiven of their sins and radically transformed in order to enter His Kingdom. This transformation comes about by believing in Jesus Christ, as the Son of God. Jesus went around for three years confirming that He was the Son of God by many miracles: He healed the sick, raised the dead, and fed thousands of people with only a little bit of food.
After three years, Jesus was betrayed by people who hated Him. He was executed by Roman crucifixion. But the scriptures teach that His death was no accident; it was God’s means of rescuing all people from sin. Jesus’ death was for each one of us. He died to pay for our own sins. Jesus declared that anybody who would accept Him and accept His death in their behalf would receive forgiveness of their sins and a place in God’s Kingdom. When God raised Jesus from the dead, He was confirming that Jesus’ death was totally sufficient to pay for every person’s sins.
Jesus is alive today and offers to everyone the free gift of salvation, forgiveness of sins, eternal life in God’s kingdom.
